Who We Are

The Pierson Company was founded in 2025 as a partnership between David Pierson and Brenda Garrand, a husband and wife team who have lived and worked in Maine since graduating from Bates College in the 1970’s. 

David began his career in Maine as a general contractor and construction manager. After nearly 20 years in construction, David attended Maine Law, clerked for the Maine Superior Court, and developed an active legal practice specializing in construction, land use, and municipal law. Now in part-time practice, David was a shareholder at Eaton Peabody.

David was an early leader and long-time Good Shepherd Food Bank board chair. He has served as general counsel of the Homebuilders and Remodelers Association of Maine, and of the Associated Builders and Contractors of Maine. He has represented a number of clients in the manufactured housing industry. He has represented the cities of Lewiston and Thomaston and has argued landmark land use cases before the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. He is admitted to practice law in Maine before all courts and has been named a “Best Construction Lawyer” in Maine for over two decades. 

Following a diverse career in marketing and media, in 1987, Brenda founded one of Northern New England’s largest marketing communications firms, Garrand Partners (now Garrand Moehlenkamp) Over more than thirty years in the business, her firm represented a wide range of international, regional and state-wide clients including Dunkin’ Donuts, H.P. Hood, Osram-Sylvania, New England Coffee, New Balance, LL Bean, MaineHealth, True North Salmon, Androscoggin, Gorham and Norway Savings Banks, and many others.

A graduate of Syracuse University’s graduate marketing faculty, Brenda has also been an active volunteer leader, serving on the boards of the University of New England, Maine Public Broadcasting, The United Way of Greater Portland, The Mitchell Institute, and the Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority (operators of the AMTRAK Downeaster), among many others. 

As long-time Mainers, active community leaders, and accomplished professionals, Brenda and David are uniquely qualified to devote their time and talent to developing middle-market housing in Maine’s Midcoast, where they reside.
