As available real estate and construction prices have escalated, homes for working individuals, families, and seniors have become scarce. Out of sync with real wages, housing has appreciated beyond the local population’s ability to pay for it. One fundamental way to align prices with wages is to increase the supply of quality, affordable homes.
The Pierson Company develops and constructs durable, middle-market housing using a private-sector model — siting, financing, designing, constructing and marketing residential housing units to help serve unmet needs of the region’s workers — people like teachers, nurses, public safety professionals, and others whose income is above the regional average but for whom current home prices are still out of reach.
We’re primarily Interested in new construction, serving as developers and construction managers of new single-family homes in towns and cities with favorable land use and zoning. We want to develop new housing according to market needs close to our Rockland home base. (Roughly, an area between Thomaston and Belfast).
The Pierson Company is open to collaboration with local land trusts and others to provide housing that will continue to be affordable.
